While directed by AC Stephens (Stephen Apostolof), Orgy of the Dead is seriously the vision of Writer Ed Wood, Jr. all the way. Entering his days in the Adult Movie industry in it’s Nudie stages, later to go Porno in The 70’s, Wood’s unique world would be a perfect fit for the Over-18 Set as it also went into numerous books sold at “Bookstores” through the years. Co-Starring Chriswell and Fawn Silver as the hosts of a ghoulish Topless Dancer show in a dark spirit world featuring plenty of tasty sights in front of a captured couple (Pat Barringer and WIlliam Bates) who arrive into the realm after hitting a tree on the usual dark and stormy night in search of a cemetery to inspire Bob’s planned epic story.

As this is Wood-land, things will turn very interesting in quick time.

The thin story line sets the stage for a few cool ghoul topless striptease acts centered around dark tales and cool tombstone scenery.

A typical set-up would be something like a Bride who killed her husband who is now with his skeleton .

Although it played as early as June, 1965 in Atlanta, the fact that this had to find sub-distributors in a field that was growing very slowly found the Orgy creeping through the US from area to area through the next few years.

in this story from Pulsaki, VA, the film was also considered obscene just for the arousal factor. What made the story interesting was that the co-feature was The Rape. Kind of makes you think about some people sometimes…

There were not too many films of it’s kind then, and as it’s written by the legendary Ed Wood, Orgy of the Dead still has that flavor that can be only from the one and only creator of Plan 9 From Outer Space!

While F.O.G went out of business, the film went into the hands of Crest Distributors, who handled a lot of films from the Late 60’s-Early 70’s. Thankfully, the VHS era captured the film early on.
