10/31/75 - Rod Serling Invites Toledo to have an ENCOUNTER WITH THE UNKOWN

Here’s a Double bill that played a lot mainly on name value alone thanks to Rod Serling being in the main course although you would only be hearing him. The three-story screen filler Encounter With the Unknown was was originally released in The US through American National Enterprises, and then by the Florida Based Libert, and finally winding up with that third run company called Cougar who presented this bill in early 1977.

Both of these films were Produced and Directed by Harry Thomason, who would later go to TV Production through The 90’s, and would be filmed for Centronics International who I think planned to go with more Docu-Drama style films although it would last for only these two films seen in this ad.

Here’s the VHS Vision show…kind of perfect for those who would like to know what it was like watching these things before all of the great restorations.

So Sad About Gloria was the film put on a co feature, and is now on a Code Red DVD. Starring Lori Saunders of Petticoat Junction and Dean Jagger, it’s reported to have been a good chiller of a film that went a little more than it’s PG rating, although you could get away with more back then. Reportedly, it was also released through Libra before it went on it’s way to third-division Distribution land.

The double bill was presented in Toledo through it’s original run while in 1977, Cougar would get them in it’s long list of flicks.
